When you're trying to clone a program, it's one thing to have the legacy code sitting in front of you in order translate it.  It's a completely different thing altogether when you have to create a program that behaves exactly like another program does based on it's runtime behavior, some data, and the scattered information provided by others.

There is no easy button.
