Golden Battleaxe rip spell minor bug

Obvious exits: north, south, east, west

no extra message when not "ripped"

There isn't double exp, only the death message displays twice if the monster dies while "ripped"

I'm just going to laugh at that... :)

Well I thought it was funny also, but today Russel discovered a not so funny side effect.  When the death message spawns a mob, double death messages spawn double mobs.

He suddenly found himself hip deep in gibbering horrors out in the ruins today...

Kill the big one, 2 normally pop out, he got 4.  Kill one of those, 3 small ones pop out, he got 6.  So I'm going to bump up my vote on the priority on this one to 5 stars.

Interesting... This must be effects from the new DOT code that got them working some what right on mobs...

It sucked bad. Like a hooker with sharp teeth. My votes 5, too

This may or may not be related to the DOT spell issue but saw this for the first time today:

The rip killed him, I got the exp, but still had to hit him one final time.  Notice also that the game said *combat off* after the 1st death, and I hit him without having to engage combat again.

At least in majormud, the rip itself does actual damage. I think I remember 8 damage, plus the hp ticker afterwards.

In greatermud, this is what I have noticed, using the blackwood staff for so long:

Monsters that die via a spell on a weapon, when the actual spell damage is what uts them to 0 or - hps, get mortally wounded. They then hafta get to -31 hps to die. (Which is the current death setting, I think)

If they are killed by the weapon's actual attack, they die at 0 hps. But you still get the second dealth spell. Even if the spell is a damage spell like blackwood and not a rip.

I think. I may be completly wrong, but this is the mechanics of what I've noticed. I havent osted about it, but I have shown and explained it to vitoc...

Wait. I believe that I was wrong. you dont hafta get em to -31 hps. I believe you just hafta hit em again with a reg weapon hit. There's an issue with checking for dead when the damage comes from an effect.....

Today I got a 3 for 1 death....

You hack orc warrior for 21 damage!
You hack orc warrior for 18 damage!
You hack orc warrior for 12 damage!
You rip orc warrior wide open!
3 gold drop to the ground.
5 silver drop to the ground.
The orc warrior slips in his own blood, and falls dead.
You gain 275 experience.

Its very possible there could be multiply little bugs contributing to this effect.

The double DOT death msgs seems to be fixed.  Kudos Vitoc :)
