Ok, since it's a non-pvp board and limiteds are basically just good weapons you can get (and not have to steal) why not raise the number of lims? Doubling it would be great or even just one more of each lim. Just and idea I had. Like I said there's no pvp so limiteds could be more frequent.

it would allow those of us that joined a lot later to actually have a shot at some of the limited items out there.....

Some where I the forum I posted about creating a scaled system of increasing limited based on the number of players and the items restriction requirements. (No idea where it is but it was something that has been thought about)

how about making lims unlimited while we are in this testing phase with no pvp?

That's a little off topic for the tread... If you want to talk about that I would post it to the general Greatermud discussion section.

I would prefer to see low drop rates, and unlimited items.

Limited items simply remove the incentive to kill half the mobs in the game once their Lim-1 has dropped.  Lowering drop rates to 1-5% on currently limited items, and removing their limited status would give reason to kill things again.

The downside is on a very old realm, everyone might have identical characters.  But, if you keep adding content, this isn't really a problem.  Or you could have a trade-up system where you trade in a holy avenger and 10 runic to make a "holier avenger" for higher levels, or involve a quest to upgrade "premium items".

Bring back Trader Tull!

I play on the pvp realm, but think unlimited 'limited' items is a good idea for non-pvp. No point in having limiteds in non-pvp if you can't DP raid/kill the owner.

I would also argue that having bosses drop 100% on first kill should be removed if the above change is to be added.

As long as we're having this discussion can we please discuss upgrading 5th quest weapons so that you have more than 1/3 chance of landing a quality weapon. Make them all different but all useful to the user.

This is an idea I've pushed for years, as well as exectuted in my MMR mod. Not only does this still control the amount of items still coming into the game, but it also allows the most tenacious players to get the items they seek with enough time and effort. This is the obvious choice to me.

I seriously considered making a mod like this for my MMR realm, but opted to control items coming into the game through spawn times and drop rates as said above. The mod would've basically had several new npcs who exchange the top 40 or 50 limited items for a non-limited version that is slightly upgraded, giving players incentive to exchange these items rather than sit on them. A mod like this would also be great for a pvp realm, as it provides added incentives.

Solid ideas for sure, Jester.

Dude I love that idea of trade-up... like once you hit a certain level you can trade up your items! That would be awesome for level 10 questers! And it would recycle them into the game too better!

Level 10, Golden Battleaxe ---> Level 25, you must first have the Golden Battleaxe, then complete a quest, which will send the Golden Battleaxe back to the quest hall and give you say a Golden Greataxe (or a weaker weapons if the Greataxe is already in the game sort of like how the Darkbane works.)  Then once someone trades that up for the umm, Golden Halberd, someone can then do it all over and get the Greataxe!

Why not have a 'second wave' release of limiteds, where you do a sweep + re-release them all again once (doubling the total amount from this point on in the push), around the time a few gangs have completed 5th quest?

They would still be limited/rare enough, just more obtainable, and based on luck and the amount of time/effort you put in the game, if you really want an item.

This is a once off per push, and is announced at Gardner's discretion when he feels like it's time.
