Those kinds of actions ruin the game for a lot of us.
+1

Soul is a new OP so some leeway can be given, but this type of interference on a pvp realm should not happen... and won't happen again right?

Agreed, Blatant OP abuse, I dont blame Soul as he is new but I honestly dont think Alignment changes are a good reward for being a bug monkey, it is all of our duties here playing in a test realm to report bugs.  I can say however this first incident does not give most of us a hopeful future to having a fair op in mud. We miss you Gardner =(
Lucifer impales you for 5 damage!
Lucifer lunges at at you!
Lucifer skewers you for 3 damage!
Lucifer skewers you for 3 damage!
Lucifer slashes you for 4 damage!
You critically smack Lucifer for 49 damage!
You critically beat Lucifer for 38 damage!
You critically beat Lucifer for 37 damage!
You critically smack Lucifer for 69 damage!
You critically beat Lucifer for 60 damage!
Lucifer drops to the ground!
Lucifer is dead.

As I explained on the board.

I asked for help to test a bug report. Angruin volunteered (and I have NO idea who Angruin is or his history). This bug required changing his alignment to Good (well, not evil, but Good is easiest for me to remember).

After I was done, I forgot to change it back. Some people watch the game like hawks, and in no time I got called a faggot for changing alignments by at least 3 people. This put me in defensive mode and I trolled everyone and pissed them off.

I _WILL_ change alignments in the future if needed, and change them back. If something is wrong, please call me out on it in a respectful manner. I am a very reasonable person and will fix things to be fair if you treat me respectfully.

Soul

Liar, before I called him a faggot this was his reply:

06:44pm Soul telepaths: 1 hour 45 minutes ago i made him Good because he helped me to test a bug, and that was his reward for helping me to fix it. but he shouldnt be Saint, maybe some ep's ticked off?

obviously he has changed his story.

Souls been with us off and on for a very long time. He's one of the few members of the development team trusted enough to work on the actual code of the game. Please cut him some slack being an op plus dealing with bug exploration sometimes don't work out in guise of normal op duty routines. It's important to remember this is a beta realm and doesn't exactly conform to the normal rules and occurrences of a release version realm. So just like when a player finds a bug and abuses it and we cut people slack when it doesn't interfere with other players cut our ops some.

And two if I find out people are treating Soul without a due measure of respect such as the faggot comment I will get you banned. Vitoc has never had a problem backing my advice on that matter. Keep the realm polite, op-ing is not a pleasant job and we have to deal with all of your complaints all the time. And there is always more players than ops at any point in time. So the scales of complaints are always tipped vers the action taken by the ops. If you need to blow off steam and I understand frustration do it vocally in you own room not with your fingers. That is of course unless your a buxom blond that wants to video tape it and send it to me. ;p

In their defense I did fuck with them a lot regarding the issue. I had a shitty day today (I essentially got turned down for a position I wanted), so I pushed peoples buttons on purpose. But it was never my intention to cheat just to cheat. It was an honest mistake and I lied and played with the issue. I really don't mind people calling me names as I seriously don't get offended, but I did see a couple of racist comments this evening, and those have got to go. I am not the only one who plays.

If you messed with them than you got what you deserved but at least your willing to admit it. If you see racist comment issue them a warning and if you see them doing it again give them a mild suspension no more than a few days if it isn't a wildly offensive rant. I have a good 15 years of off and on op experience so if you ever need advice I'm just a pm away. If you know their forum name I'm more than willing to give them a stern lecture in private too.

I can understand your frustration I have a crappy department head too. He's an idiot actually he wants to replace a $10k workstation simply because he doesn't like the ascetics of the computer's rack mounted server case. So of course I had to put down my current project and spend hours of my day looking up proprietary minimum software requirements for a computer he might never spend any time next to. I mean seriously when you have a 3.4ghz dual xeon workstation with a stripped scsi array and two sata drives who cares what it looks like right! If he gets rid of it though I'm so going to try to take that baby home to ship it to Vitoc :)

I know its relieving to screw with people after you have a crappy day but this is supposed to be a happy development land where ideas run free and rampant. So give the players a break too if your having a bad day at least warn them first. lol at the end of the day we all have to get along as best as we can. And seriously coming to the defense of your player base when you know you did wrong is the basis of good op-ing skills. And really I think hopefully they will recognize that.

I am going to reiterate something that was said when all players/mobs were locked in perma-stasis (no one could attack or be attacked) and multiple ganghouses were burgled without retribution:

"No one was rerolled. No other players were directly affected. No harm done, no rollback needed let's just keep it as is and move on."

Frankly, Angruin volunteered to help fix the game for the betterment of all players -- why the uproar? Angruin is a hero ... and dare I say...a Saint! :)

To me this instance is poetic justice for an injustice done unto us earlier.
