Regardless of how it should be treated, we're cloning mmud atm.  Perhaps some of this should be moved to a gmud ideas forum.
If we can hit that bulls-eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards.? Check-mate!

I'm just calling it as I see it, something is wrong with the game logic here. It would hard to say if it was a original code bug left in because its effects were liked or something that was created out of coding skill limitation or something they did intentionally thinking that stealth was to powerful. If you want me to put it in the idea section thats ok, I can do that. Don't get me wrong I do realize that we are cloning mmud atm. However it just seems to be a backwards effort to code much of their origional problems and or past limitations in this code too when at somepoint we will be looking to fix them later.

BTW - Whats with the karma thing, is someone trying to tell me something? :P

I'm a biologist, and as such, a clone must be made and then you perfect the genes.  And then you destroy christianity by forcing their women to have abortions.  And then you eat the fetuses.  Its the only possible order.

Our world will evolve...it will not be intellegently designed.

Nor should it be!

Unless you are a scientologist and then you force the woman to have drug-free birth in silence and then eat the placenta.

lol, but you already have an imperfect clone due to the backend changes...

I'll have to remember that one for the snake forum.

QuoteIf it were up to me I would make a perception test against the sneaking players stealth. If the a player passes this test then the sneaking player is shown in the room only to the player passing the stat test. The sneaking player would then get a message about the player that noticed them. Further the player passing the perception vs stealth test should be protected from the sneaking players BS attack until the sneaking player attempts to sneak again. If the player that noticed the sneaking player then want to alert others of the sneaking person then they should need to look at the sneaking player. Since looking at a player reports a message to the room the sneaking players stealth should be ended. Its pure and simple game logic.

I agree with crazy animal for the most part. If you are sneaking then along with people not noticing you walk in/out of a room they should not automatically see you unless you search for them. Based on your perception, you should be able to spot people at a glance that are sneaking. If someone does happen to notice you then only the sneaker and the noticer should be notified of this. If you are noticed then you should not be able to "surprise attack" (aka backstab) that person although you should be able to surprise other people in the room.

In addition, hiding should be better than sneaking. If you hide as opposed to just sneak then you should have a better chance at not getting noticed. This would making hiding different and more worthwhile than just sneaking alone.

Another point is deciding how to deal with this in a party. If a bunch of people are in a room and not in a party then realistically I wouldn't point out to them who I notice sneaking around. However, in a party I would say, "hey party members, watch out for that dude hiding in the corner."

What effects would partying have on pvp? It would mean that sneakers have less of an advantage than in the previous system where their backstabs always counted if they engaged first. To offset this, you could have a system where party ambushing has a bonus over solo ambushing. This would encourage party killing. Is that really a bad thing? any other ideas?
