The original content has probably been played to death by everyone and I for one have no interest in playing around with it anymroe. I realise this game is still in development, but you have to be very close to emulating the orginal mmud (which by todays standards of mmporgs and other muds is not that great a game).

When are we going to start seeing improvements and new content?

Our focus right now is almost exclusively on getting the engine complete.  As we go through this we are making some improvements, such as the spell of wizard knock actually being worth going to get, or the interface that drives the silverlight application and the status viewer.  There might be a couple of new features introduced prior to v1.0 but those will be few and far between I think.

Once we have V1.0 wrapped up, then we can start working on some of the cool new stuff.

Why can't the engine be perfected and the classes balanced and worked on at the same time?

why fix the alignment if the engine doesn't run properly?

Why perfect the engine to emulate mmud when the mmud engine is broken and flawed to begin with?

Its for a preservation copy so that in the future any one that might wish at some later date to play the game in its original state. There are a few limitations and problems that we did fix already but they should have been addressed long ago.

A small change like that would change the data values we can and do collect from comparing characters on a WG/MMUD board to those on a greatermud one.

I don't see what the big deal is. If you want to play mud in its preserved state you can go and play the original game.

wow... could you be more ungrateful?

New content will come when it comes.... harrassing the coders isn't going to make it happen any faster.

And building a realm around a broken engine is stupid.... you want the engine to work properly before you bother putting together content for it....

be patient... if you want new content go play on a modified board and quit complaining about not having new content here.

That's provided you can still find one at a later date.. Think of it as an NES game most people now play them on emulators rather then being able to just go play the original... It might be hard for you to think that far ahead but that's the way it is... ;p

Asking questions in a forum about the direction of the project is ungrateful? I think not.

Yeah you're right on the money here, but that is what is happening. It is being built on an engine that was designed when the max level was 20 and has been patched and hacked together to work (or not work) from there on.

You can find a mod4, hell even a pre mod1 realm to go and play on if you want. You will always be able to find the software and setup an original stock standard realm if that's what you want to do.. And if that is what you want to do, you aren't going to want to setup an emulated stock standard realm, you'd go for the original legit product.

I went looking through the forums and found this - http://www.greatermud.com/forums/index.php?topic=561.0 - which explains it I guess. Although Vitoc seemed to vote for changing things now and not creating a bugged mmud clone? Priorities have changed?

haha things don't always work out that way I'm not going argue about it though...

No priorities haven't really changed... We have made minor changes as not to duplicate a number of bugs that existed in mmuds engine. As well as some small improvements for some commands like you can by and sell in quantity. no 10 spell limitation. To name a few.. Larger changes and new features though are being saved for version 1 and later though. You have to realize the more things we try to add in before version 1 is finished the longer it will be till we can actually release the server platform and game engine. And a release is what were working towards...

Untill the new items & slots system is finished and deployed it's going to be impossible to give any sort of time frame on release.  We've still got a few major bugs, and a slew of minor pesky little bugs to fix after the new slot system is in place.
