Just a simple idea how hard would it be to have some NPC classic villain archetypes that roam the towns and main roads while stealing stuff from players. I would imagine they would keep the stolen items/cash on them while they wonder till they get to the nearest pawn shop.

To get items back you can simply kill them and they drop everything they have stolen or you can buy it back from the pawnshop after they?ve sold it. (Pawnshop would be like the recycling trash pit in MMUD but would list items for sale if they were above say x base value & the junk just poofs.)

Now I did think it might be kind of fun to make them run when you attack them but that might be going too far to make people chase them around to get their stuff back.

Could also have roaming bands on NPCs that heal and bless one another and kill monsters..

<Grin> hmm so many possibilities?.

Any thoughts about having some quest endings spawning stuff like riots in towns that might be an interesting use of that feature. You could have a medieval style inquisition groups that wonders from town to town and attacks random people while walking though. Or near temples at some times you could find the priests leading processions through the streets.

Ooo must think more about this?.
