Beastly has invited you to follow him.
[HP=435/KAI=37]:join Beastly
You must be invited first!

In this case beastly was following Animal. Beastly invited Sojin to follow, however; Sojin could only join the party if he typed follow animal.

Logically if your following the leader or the person following the leader your still following the leader... I'm not sure if mmud did it this way but it would make more sense.

MMud just kinda f'd shit up when this happened.  I prefer it if for now when you were following someone and then invited someone it would say. "You are already in a party!" or "X is the party leader" or "Only the leader may invite new group members."

Eh that works for me I just thought it was weird as is.

Omg, we're going to change something?  :o

This would have a huge impact though.

No more daisy chaining?  What about party max?

I think party max should go up if we cant chain ...... O0

I wouldn't mind seeing a leadership ability go in that would raise the max party value of the leader +1 party member per point in the abilities value.

Max party=6, and no one daisy chains, thats just retarded.

That's lame.

What is the reason for having a cap on a party anyway?  If I'm throwing... errr... leading a party, I should be able to determine how many people I want to invite, not have the government tell me "you can only have 6 people at your parties and nobody else can show up from their own parties"

Seriously though, don't you have any plans for tough bosses that require more than a 6 character group to take on?  That will encourage more player interaction and people staying at the keys for boss runs.  Making it difficult to keep a group of more than 6 characters together is just stupid.  I do like the leadership idea, but what would cause that ability to increase?  Leveling or something else?

Well for the leadership thing I'd say questing, maybe boss kills, some of it could tie in will the type of class like maybe a warrior might start with more leadership defaultly... later prestige classing could also play a part in it.

I was thinking some more about this Leadership ability and I think the best way to do it and have it blend into the game content would be to use it as a base class ability. So each class would have their own Leadership score that dictates their max party size. Leadership 0 would equal a 0 party size then and a leadership 10 would = 10 player party. Then this ability could be increased via content by doing quests. The type of quests that would raise it would be those that use groups to be-able to complete them.

I implemented something similar to this (using the last sentence)
