    * * * Realm Rules * * *
    Effective 31 January 2010

    Non PVP Realm:

    • 1 account per person/ip to start
    • 1 dupe allowed once first account is level 25.  This rule applies to multiple players in the same household regardless of how many IP addresses you have.
    • 2nd dupe allowed once both accounts reach level 50
    • No limited items on the 3rd account.  This includes gang house deeds.
      • GJR available on request
      • No deathpile raiding
      • No gang house raiding.
Do not enter a house that does not belong to your gang.
      • Failure to set up your megamud properly regarding auto grabbing items is your fault, not ours.
      • @goto's will be put in place when the first player hits level 25
      • 20 million gang exp required to buy a gang house
      • All limited items that are 1st kill drops were removed from monsters per the user vote
Since we will have a pvp realm, griefers will be encouraged to play on that realm.
Setting your Megamud to auto grab limited items while scripting will be treated as dp raiding.  Don't do it.

DP/Gang house raiding:  1st time: 2 day suspension.  2nd time: 5 day suspension, 3rd time: Sent to the pvp realm to play, banned from the non pvp realm.  You may ask "What about the warning?"  This is it right here.

      Limited Item Rules:

      • No limited item hoarding!
      • If it drops, and you can not use it within a reasonable period of time, leave it.
    • Lvl 1 gets a lvl 50 lim item.  NOT Reasonable
    • Lvl 45 gets a lvl 50 lim item.  Reasonable
    • If you get a lim you can not use, that DOES count towards your 1 limited item per slot limit.  Choose wisely.
    • Do not store limiteds in your gang house
    • 1 limited item per item slot max.  No exceptions.
If it is for your dupe, then your dupe can carry it.
    • Items on the ground will be swept weekly
    • Accounts will be stripped after 20 days unless you work out
      something with Gardner in advance.

    PVP Realm:

    • GRJ on request
    • +/- 15 level pvp
    • No @goto.  Ever.
    • 10 million gang exp required to buy a gang house
    • No scripting the cloaked figure in the easy training area
    • No dupes
    • NO lives will be given out by ops as voted on by the users.
    • Script killing is allowed
    • Failure to set up your megamud properly is your fault, not ours.

    Limited item rules:

    • Accounts will be stripped after 20 days unless you work something out
      with Gardner in advance.
    • Items on the ground will be swept monthly

Since there are no raiding rules, you'd have to do something pretty major to get banned from the pvp realm.  Like crashing the board over and over.

Exploitation of known bugs will be frowned on.  So will failure to report bugs that benefit you.  You won't get banned for it, but there are worse things than being banned in GreaterMUD.

    Profanity
Honestly, the last thing we want to do is tell people they shouldn't say certain words.  However, not everyone wants to hear you drop the F word in every gossip, let alone use it in your name (hint hint Mr. Hostile ;) ).  We have a pretty very relaxed atmosphere, but let's try to keep it reasonably clean in the gossip channel or in rooms with others.  Feel free to use the broadcast channel, telepaths (with people you know won't be offended), and gangpaths if you're going to use potentially offensive words.

    Flaming (Non PVP Realm)
Don't do it.  If you know the person won't be offended, that's fine.  If someone asks you to stop, uhh.... stop.

    PVP (PVP Realm)
PVP, or Player vs. Player for the n00bs out there, is an integral part of most MUDs.  It promotes limited item turnover and more player interaction in the game.  There will be no magic forcefields that prevent you from ever being killed by another player, and we're not going to take any action against those players.  However, we will do our best to make it so the law/alignment system serves and protects you as it happens should happen in real life.  We will strive to keep things balanced, so if there's areas that are protective of "good aligned" people there will also be areas that are beneficial and protective towards "evil aligned" people as well.

    Sys Powers
When sys powers are given, there's a certain amount of trust that the person will be responsible with those powers.  Summoning 100 Tyrannosaurs in a round or even 2-3 at a time is counterproductive.  Yes, we want to test the limits of the game, but if you're going to do it, do it somewhere where it will not disturb other people who might be doing other legitimate and equally important testing.  The same goes for moving people; don't move them unless they ask you.  The need to log sys power use appears to be inevitable, but rather than spending time parsing through logs to see who did what and when we want to spend the time actually making forward progress on GreaterMUD.

Consider this a call to all people who have sys powers to use them responsibly.

These rules are being implemented to make everyone's time here more enjoyable and productive.  We will add to and modify these rules as necessary.  Offenders may be booted, suspended, and eventually banned after repeated offenses.  Please let us know if someone is blatantly disregarding these rules or if you feel new rules need to be enforced.

    Thanks for everyone's cooperation!

PS. Please keep in mind this is a test realm, meant to do some initial testing/debugging on the engine.  All characters may (and probably will) be reset when the new content is implemented.  So the next time your character gets rerolled, please don't be overly concerned with having them restored since they may not be around for much longer anyway.

These rules are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Developers in order to insure that the testing continues in a smooth and orderly fashion.

    Change log:

Sysops will use the new "Announce" feature to send messages to everyone in the realm or everyone on the bbs.  To enable these messages to show up on your megamud convo window, enter the following into your bbs setup:

A short while back a list of user ids, ip addresses, and profile numbers for players was posted on these forums.

Several users made copies of that data before we caught it and removed it.

ANY user who reposts that information in these or any other forums will be banned from GreaterMUD.
