Ok, in regular mud the pvp hangup penalties happen only if someone is still engaged in combat with you when you hangup (they don't have to be in the same room, just engaged)

So anyway, after many rounds of being slept, I got to this:

TwoGirlz lets out a loud snore.
TuT points at you and utters a harsh word!
TuT fires a sphere of implosion at you for 172 damage!
TuT attempts to cast sleep on TwoGirlz, but the spell is resisted!
TuT moves to attack TwoGirlz.
[HP=68]:
Slum Street, Crossroads
You notice 42 gold crowns, 22 silver nobles, 53 copper farthings, 2 silk
gloves, silk trousers, silver bracelet here.
Also here: Thergard, TwoGirlz*, TuT*.
Obvious exits: north, south, east, west
[HP=68]:[Session ended (10:04 am)]

Hangup penalties killed me, despite TuT no longer being engaged in combat with me. Is this intentional in Greatermud? What are the intended conditions that give a hangup penalty?

Did he have a timed spell, i.e. slep/stun or something similar active on you when you hung up?

Yes, I believe I was still 'asleep'. I had a feeling this might be the 'why' of it. It's not how hangup penalties behave in original mud, but I'd say it's an improvement. Does that work with bless style spells (sped, fren, etc). I ask because some of those spells can have a considerably longer duration. Also, would you recieve a hangup penalty if you had killed someone, but still had one of their curse spells on you, say a minute later (say creeping doom as an example)? And what about poison, such as from pbol. Do these count as well?

I'd have to get with Vitoc, but I believe that if the engine considers you to still be engaged in some fashion, then hang pens will apply.
