As you all are aware, there are major bugs in the ep/retaliation system currently on pvp.  I have come up with some options to deal with them that are acceptable to me.  I will post them here so that they can be discussed.  By discussed I do not mean a flame fest.  This is about the ideas, not the people involved in the discussion.  Flame posts will be deleted from this thread.

  • Disable pvp entirely until fixed  (This is acceptable, but not really desireable)
  • Leave the system as it is until it can be fixed but I have no idea how long that could take
  • Put more restrictive rules in place for pvp until the problems are fixed
  • Put some automation in place via my sysop program to prevent the problems from happening.
Automation will either:
- include both automatic alignment changes AND automatic giving of lives
or
- user requested alignment changes but the user gets a penalty suspension of 15 hours for using it

Discuss!

personally I don't like any of the options.

But if you can setup an auto-ban by how many Eps do they lose for it.
I'm guessing there is no way of setting it up for a one time use per day unless a ban of 15 hr is activated.

automation of lives and alignment changes.  Change PVP Limit to unlimited:

This would bring out tons and tons of pvp, something like nonstop pvp which is what everyone appears to want.

What are the "more restrictive rules"  That would be in place?

They would be in the form of restrictions on how and when you pvp.  i.e. no attacking fiends, no using spells to start combat, ect.

And the 15 hour penalty means, no longing in for the 15 hours right?

Yes

I'll  say this it's a joke if @lives are put in place.
I'll quit and be gone, it is no longer a pvp realm in my eyes.

I don't care if it is unlimited or not.

It's a test realm.  I have said many times that nothing is served by rolling people out of the game here.

I know it a test realm and i know what your feeling/thoughts are.
Just stating my opinions if it was to ever be @lives..

I have no-reason to bad mouth that choice, nor do you mine, of leaving if this realm get's @lives.

i think some people just want to roll others that's thier purpose. i was rolled I do and will always object to adding lives. seems to be here that people dont kill for items they kill for lives I think I only lost items on one of my deaths all of the others were for my lives. if pvp id turned off i'll leave for sure and not return till it is back on and real is reset if i wanted to play non pvp i would go there. or if pvp is turned off reset ALL the lims in the game

From a development perspective maybe not. But I don't think the players are logging all these hours just to test the game out. It's a game and they're playing the game. If you hand out lives interest will drop sharply.

I like the 15 hour penalty for fiend --> villain (this would normally take 180 hours I believe).

Oh and another thing: I think you should have to be in sbnk (or another designated safe room) with full HPs to make the reset request. If not you'll have Tupac griefing people 600 rooms from town til max fiend. Then he gets a free ride home and leaves the other party in a shambles without the same benefit.

I am not sure how @lives has anything to do with the bug.

My suggestion is increase the -eps per hr given to people logged in,
and add @add evil to gardner, so that people can add 10 ep at a time remotly helping neautral people stay neutral, and evil people stay evil to counter the increase in negative -eps per day.

I agree with the adding ep's but not taking them away. you get them you get to wear them off.

That's the problem, you are getting them when you are not supposed to be getting them. The recent changes to attacking Saint/Good etc (which sees you get a ludicrous amount of EPs) and the retaliation bug has simply made the current system unworkable.

You could up the EPs burnt off every hour, but unless you are burning off 100+ a day then it's still screwed. In 1 pvp session yesterday I took 130 EPs and that was attacking a neutral and retaliating against a good (which saw me get EPs).

Current system is pretty hard on players who want to go evil and it needs adjustment, just need to make sure that however we tweak it we don't screw those that are good/saint.

sorry this is not even worth a vote, can't change my vote if options change im not wasting it on these options.

My vote is for adding the ability to be set to Villain's evil point amount in exchange for a fifteen hour ban. I do not however see that in the list above.

This will mean that evil people will stay evil, and that they will only need to make the change if they are getting close to hitting the max-evil hard limit at which people can currently not retaliate against any non-evil character. The ban will force them to take the hit and not be able to 'strike back' straight away, so the new EPs cannot be immediately abused, and will prevent those that wish to continuously PVP from abusing a free loss of evil points.
