Win Condition

How about a win condition that sets the date of the next reset? Something like: first group to do 5th align sets a reset 2 weekends from that date. Perhaps they get some kinda bonus or bragging rights for the next reset.

Why do I want to have a win condition? Because resets are a vital part of keeping the mud community alive. Resets give hope and spark interest in old mudding nostalgia. Having a win condition is an inspiring mechanism to encourage play and keep the community alive through structured resets.

I like this idea if the goal is a bit harder.

Maybe the first gang to verifiably flag 10 people with a Lich kill or something along those lines.

Nobody here kills lich because everyone is afraid to die and lose gear.

Perhaps knowing that killing the lich king triggers a reset (and fabulous realm glory!) would inspire them to try to achieve this goal.
=D

I killed lich 2 resets in a row...I'm not sure why you'd want to do 5th quest get the fantastic rewards and then just have the game reset after that..the reward would have to be spectacular

It could work with some ground rules set up.

This example would require some minor coding to keep a tally of the number of PvP kills by a gang as well. Something like this could just be a small column on the top gang
list with Kills or even K and the number of PvP kills per gang below it. This would also encourage a lot more strategy to keep from dying in ways the game would log. (This already exists; Players will suicide before dying in PvP so their death message doesn't broadcast globally and thus become logged as a PvP kill)

10 players flagged with Lich Kills (Must be in the same gang at time of victory claim)
100 Gang PvP Kills
8-10 Billion Gang exp

1. When ready to claim victory, you'd post a simple victory claim, your gang name, and the 10 names flagged with Lich kills in the forums.
Victory claims would be clearly timestamped by the forum, thus providing a failsafe in case any discrepancies arise with multiple parties
claiming victory at the same time.

2. The mudops could set X amount of days (2-3 days seems fair) to review victory claims and either refute or acknowledge them.
3. Claims that prove to be false or frivolous could result in a week penalty before another claim may be posted. This should prevent people
from jumping the gun or posting BS claims.

After being verified as the winners of the push, the gang's name and 10+ Lich flagged persons could be posted on a victory list of some sort so that everyone can see who wins and how many times they've won.

This is just a rough outline, but it's the next level of a workable idea based on Xeeg's original post.

Gnor your idea is trash. We have no need for bad ideas that don't really make sense. Use your big vocabulary to create some brevity.

See how your self-righteous teenager personality that I just emulated here is stupid? Actually, I was totally right, so maybe I should act that way too. All I gotta do is cry about everyone else's presence and then keep the bonfire of flaming posts up. I'll get more post counts that way too.

Hope your pride excused itself so your adulthood can grow. I guess we'll see with the response in your next post.

Also, your idea is way too complex, for use and for coding. Brevity.

Gnor I like the idea of gang achievements. Each achievement could unlock bonuses for gang members like better emblems for example.

This is definitely a cool idea for the future but would require a lot more coding and editing work than the original idea that Xeeg posted.

Nothing there was set in stone as far as numbers, but I think the summary outlines a structure that could
actually be usable with minimal new code work. Any thoughts on the win condition summary, Kalus?

Holy crap, Gnor toned his nonsense down! WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS, COMMUNITY. Unfortunately, this thread has turned into a "qualify your buddy" route.

Despite that, there is something good brewing here. What about.... a side note. Something like Prestige on Call of Duty? For example's sake, you start over after level 65. You reroll, but you get to pick a permenant bonus. +10 acc, etc. People who don't want to start over dont have to!

You have a knack for posting whatever comes off the top of your head, which often results in a proposition entailing HUGE amounts of new code work.

Perhaps you should take more than 15 seconds of thought and "qualify" your idea before you just post it.  It might result in responses that are more desirable to you.

Back to the original ideas, imo.

By the way, my rerolling for a bonus idea is AWESOME.

You're talking about remorting.  That's something that's been discussed here and has generally gotten a good reception.

To King Gnor:  Three cheers for Gnor! You did it! You win at internet hating! You're better than me!
You know what's great about trolling you? You'll never catch on, and even if you did you can't resist your Victorious Pride. See: your reply
