Hi guys,

My name is Sean.  I used to play MajorMUD as SoWN back in the day.

Recently I've been working on an exciting new MUD game called RubyMUD.  It's built in the web application programming language Ruby on Rails.  I'm almost finished with the first version.  It's going to be very similar to MajorMUD, but built for the modern day web.  You play it in the browser.

My dream is so turn this into a business.  I think that being able to play it in the browser, iphone, ipad, etc, will open it up to a wider audience.

If you're a programmer I need your help.  This is a big project and I can't do it alone.  Please contact me if you're interested in learning more:

I'm also open for others to work on the project if you'd like to contribute in any way.

If you've ever dreamed of working on a project like this with the potential for money, this could be our chance!

Look forward to hearing from you,
Sean

Hey Sown, this is DC..is that project you showed me a few month back?

Your first post is an advertisement?  :-\

I'm working on something similar over at apathydrive.com (Ruby / Rails / Websockets). Sounds like we have different goals in mind in that I'm not planning on doing anything financially with mine, I'm also not trying to do a faithful majormud recreation in the vein of Greatermud. e.g. I'm redoing the combat system as a realtime system with rolemaster style crit messages.

It's cool to see another Rails mud project, especially a MajorMud based one. I'd love to chat about technology choices and how you've approached things. I'm at adam@apathydrive.com.

Oh how disappointed they will be when they realize there is no money in majormud.
