Kill all people. (Err.. right?)
Its not worth the time...my time... maybe yours.

I miss warm mead.

...need to do that more often...

Or just go out in public...mingle....socialize
"...There was always a minority afraid of something, and a great majority afraid of the dark, afraid of the future, afraid of the past, afraid of the present, afraid of themselves and shadows of themselves..." --Ray Bradbury, The Martian Chronicles

...then again, it's hard to socialize when you have a test on Monday. Le sigh...I need friends that enjoying quizzing me so I can learn while combating my antisocial tendencies.

P.S. Eyeballs are icky.

P.P.S. ...unless sauteed with garlic and chives.

It's true.

Poor, bland Olive Garden...

OK Mister Wildlife Rescue: Any advice on treating a cut on a dog's paw? The puppy (2 years old) has a deep cut right on the pad (exposed tissue). I soaked his foot in peroxide then rinsed with saline and dressed it, but I don't know if it needs stitches (which I am not prepared to do). Money is short so if all a vet will do it dress it, I'm more than capable of doing that myself. The cut is about 3/8" wide, nearly spanning the 3rd pad (counting medially out) on the left front paw.

I'm being detailed because I'm worried about my dog. He's not fighting the dressing at this point, but he's really working the sad puppy-face.

From my fiance who used to own a dog kennel:

"All you can do is keep it wrapped, if he will allow it, with triple antibiotic ointment.  Also keep it as clean as possible.  A vet won't stitch it because if it gets infected, it can spread to the whole paw, because they closed the wound.  Just dont let him do any heavy activity until it starts to heal up.  Any further question feel free to email her at pitbullchynadoll@aol.com."

If Superman is bulletproof, why does he duck when a gun is thrown at him?

OK, wrong "Mister Wildlife Rescue", but ok :).

Vets will stitch depending on how deep it is; this coming from my previous experience working in a zoo. The thing is, deep wound on a leopard doesn't easily translate to my little lab/pointer.

So far he's keeping his dressing on. Tonight I'm going to attempt to put a butterfly closure on it. I have little bloody paw prints all over my house because it seems to tear when he starts walking on it again. I can't imagine that keeping a wound open would keep it more infection-free than closing it. That's not how it works with humans, anyway.

I'm just glad he's willing to work with the cleaning and the dressing changes...last time I had to do this with my normally cheerful rotty I had to muzzle her.

Sounds like your doing fine...just make sure to do everything you can to keep out infection.  And  peroxide causes more harm than good, so don't use that.

Peroxide is cytotoxic, which is why I did the saline rinse afterwards. I was out of iodine, so I didn't have many options. A trip to Target cured my empty first aid kit though.

Thanks to both of you for the input :).

The unfortunate thing about peroxide is that the only thing that didnt have a defence against it was the puppy's skin cells.
