Hangpen and Entrance Delay

Just an idea for the fresh game this upcoming weekend...

I request that the hangpen be removed.  Having the new entrance delay I think is enough of a hangpen.  Anybody that gets attacked and hangs, is already at a disadvantage in a huge way when they need to enter the game.  As it is now, we cant even enter/search/hang to see if anyone is even in the room from the delay itself, let alone having a hangpen as well.  Especially in a fresh reset mud, this entrance delay is going to be abuse alot imo.  More people are going to be camping others now, especially if they have a pimp suit to lose. 

Prime example is what happened to Richards and Applejack...They got hung by Queer, Queer and crew camped them for like 4 days.  Now if you're using limited items, you dont have many options, and almost zero chance of survival in a situation like this.  Its just kinda cheesy.  Its either enter and die from being camped and not being able to move for 3-4 seconds.  Or your items get stripped because you try to wait out the people camping you.

Agreed!  The pause is certain death regardless of the reason you hung.  Would rather see the hangpen dropped to 20% of max HP's, implement that hangpen ANYTIME someone hangs, and get rid of the pause.

i dont really like the delay myself....but mers we have the delay cuz of u remember? keep er real

granted a lot of ppl hangbugged every single day....but it was u that set it on da front burner for vitoc and gardy...

LoL Crabby, I'm not denying this and I'm not trying to push blame onto anyone else for it. 

I just feel certain death is a bit harsh just cause you hangup in PvP...Especially if you're just looping and someone comes to attack you.  If they really want you dead, they should camp you...And perhaps the entrance delay gives them a lil' more incentive to do that.  Also I believe if you enter at the right time 2 rounds can go off before you can even respond to anything.  At the very least, I think the entrance delay should be shortened...

i 100% agree....the delay is insane... doesnt matter if u hang to pvp or monsters, ur relog back in is focked cuz of da delay....monsters and or ppls are prolly gonna get a fresh round on u before u have the chance to do anything about it.....not a big fan of delay....id rather have hangbug than delay cuz neither are fair but delay is worse than hangbug imo

As big as you guys are about finding exploits or "features" in this game to use to your benefit, it simply astounds me that not one single person has ever contacted me and said "Hey, I'm being camped.  Can I have more than 5 days before being stripped?"  The rules say contact me, they don't say what reason you have to have for being offline though.

campin someone is part of the game....u sacrifice exp in hopes to score lims or other gear....in richys case he had 9 other gang members and possibly friends that could have came to his aid but none did....if 4 or 5 ppl are gonna sacrifice losing 4 to 5 days of exp in hopes to harvest some gear and then after the 5 days its like, oh so and so emailed me and said he was bein camped so I didn't sweep his gear....that don't make much sense.....making arrangements for non strippage is stuff like, I wont have internet till next week, im out of town till next week, I wont get to my duty station till next week, I gotta do a week in jail kinda thing.....bein fully abled to log in but u don't cuz ur skeered shouldn't warrant a stay of strippage....that's just my opinion of course and I wish my typing wasn't autocorrected in every freakin program I use on this puter....

now having said all that, the delay thing makes it perty much impossible to log in and even have a fightin chance even if u had the nuts to do so....

I dont know any other way to regulate hangbugging or timing rounds than the entrance delay, maybe other than suspend/crow people that enter/hang excessively...But I dont think the delay needs to be so extreme...Maybe drop it down 1-2 second delay and see how that works out?  But even still, people camping you are still gonna have a huge advantage with this.

Is there a way to add a 5 second non removable hold spell to disconnecting players.  Basically would solve both issues; hang-bug movement and remove delay so you can enter and defend the attack.

Not sure how hang penalty health loss is coded but from a guy that doesn't know code it seems manageable to implement the above idea.

When it was suggested earlier that we enforce a 1 round "ghost" feature, the entire realm about lost their minds over it.

The entrance delay is basically a non-removeable hold spell.  Also something like that would still heavily encourage camping players that hangup.  The hangpen and entrance delay just about guarantees certain death when that person enters the realm again.  I mean the way it is now, you may as well keep the entrance delay, and just make the hangpen 100%.  sigh

I'm thinking that we'll either remove the hang pen completely or drop it to somewhere between 1-5% next push.

2.5% and u got a deal...also 2.5 item drop also unless u have no items on u then the hangpen goes to 5%

I'd like to see a PVP hang penalty that is reduced dependant on the number of people that are attacking you. Yes, you could manipulate this, but it would help a bit.

Vitoc, is there any way that the hangup entrance delay can be removed after a certain period disconnected? So if someone is offline for a sysop configured period of time, when they re-enter the delay is no longer there. Configurable in minutes, but I'd probably want the minimum to be an hour.
