Banned for using a VPN for 3 years.

Hey guys, before you shout up and down dupe and all that crap, and crucify him, I would like to explain what has transpired. Then you can keep accusing me of duping etc.

Just wanting to know where the "RULE" is where you cant use a VPN, I dont actually want to use one but it turns out that on my easter holiday to Victor Harbour Adare Caravan Park, where I had planned to play mud from for 5 days happened to unfortunately be using some sort of cloud or proxy managed wifi. The internet is provided by iinet but I think its routed through some easy to manage hardware. As in when I paid for it I paid in US dollars from the campsite, through a webpage rather then at the front desk as directed by the front desk.

Well I am back home now for the past week and still banned even though I am not using a "VPN" anymore.

My question is where is the rule that says you cant use a VPN, and where is the rules that says using a VPN will give a 3 year ban?

As a productive member of the this community for many years, and a passionate mud players I find this treatment disrespectful.

What has been the punishment in effect for something that is unmentioned here in the forums.

- 1 week of lost experience and runic.
- Multiple days of my friends being stranded with no healer or able to safly get back to town
- Gang house unable to be purchased
- Waste of time sending private messages to Gardner and Vitoc who have both never taking the time to respond in anyway to this matter, I am then forced to bring this matter public.

I am disappointed in the way Australians in this community are disadvantaged, we already accept the massive lag difference in movement that is not as prevalent on Majormud as it is on Greatermud due to the way movement is calculated differently. But a server reset at 4:30am Sunday morning is quite harsh, combined with a lack of forum or notification to server rules changes such as first limited item drop being disabled.

Normally I am the first to defend Vitoc and Gardner, and these events have been unfortunate timing with them being sick. I have been informed that Gardner has been at the keys and has responded to twogirlz but has not even taken the effort to respond to me directly in anyway.

Taken at face value I have to agree with Therg, this seems harsh.  I'm not sure what the situation is behind a VPN or why this means you'll get banned, but if he was banned for duping then who were the dupes that also needed to be banned? 

With that said, Gardner and Vitoc are infinitely smarter than I am on the subject - so I'm sure they have some sort of explanation, but it would be good to hear it and what I need to watch out for if I'm ever traveling and attempt to mud...

Having said that, most Australians will be using a VPN of some description now we have just passed mandatory metadata retention laws. Something will need to be worked out because I and many others will be mudding from behind a VPN soon.

I have never, ever seen World, Liz or Elemental say a single thing in GOS.  You'll probably come back with "We talk all the time in BG or our BR channel", but the fact is a player who never GOS's is most likely a dupe!  The reason they are stranded is not because they don't have a priest, it's because you've lost control of them when your main was banned.  Queer dupes too, but at least he talks to himself amongst his own characters once in awhile (see GOS log convo between Jesus and Artie).

Not sure how this affects Aussies differently than US players.  My movement speed is calculated the same way yours is.  Why would you feel Aussies are disadvantaged by this?  A walk-about takes me just as long as it does you!

AHAHAHAHAHAHA This guy, and don't forget Elemental as his dupe either.

This guy I showed up to Backstab outside of efreeti with his group of dupes.  after Therg gets low they all hang then one by one they log in try to pvp my group and then hang, forst world, then elemental, then Liz.  It was the dupiest thing I've ever seen in GM and that includes last reset when Nod started talking shit to me on his buddies account on accident. Please keep this guy banned permanently.

This is mostly in Gardner's realm (no pun intended) as he keeps track of people's logons and IPs and all that.

Yeah, I'm definitely not great about checking messages or responding.  My wife can vouch for that.

The issue has been resolved and has resulted in a slight change in the rules for the pvp realm regarding dupes.  Given all of my health problems over the past year I just can't devote the amount of time on a daily basis that I did and frankly I don't need or want the stress.  So everyone read up on the new rules.  Happy mudding.
