Bugzilla is up and running!

http://www.vitoc.com

It needs some admin work done, but it's a start.

Currently DeathCow and Locke both have access to the admin along with myself, so if you sign up and don't get your password E-mailed to you (probably because your ISP is blocking E-mail from unknown domains) please contact one of us with a temporary password and we will set your password manually.

TGS v1.0 (coming soon)

i think it might be a little too early to use this system.  but i can see this being VERY useful once a game is established and you actually have a release.

then again, it depends on how often it's used and checked.

I disagree; this forum has been seeing duplicate bugs, and bugs of varying severity/priority and it's nigh impossible to sort them out. Bugzilla should be better for tracking bugs than this forum ever was (not to mention it provides a way to vote for bugs, prioritize them, and so on).

The problem will be getting everyone to create accounts and use the horribly unfriendly interface Bugzilla uses to report and track the status of bugs, not to mention getting all the bugs that have already been noted in these forums moved over to Bugzilla.

...bug submitters need only concern themselves with two or three fields, everything else can be left at the default for the moment. It'll involve a little bit of a learning curve for you and DC probably, but I think it'll be worth it in the end to avoid the mess that we have here.

Bugzilla is fucking retarded.? I refuse to look at it ever again.  "bug" 8 and 11 make me want to vomit.  But fortunately I'll never have to see them again.

people, it's not that hard. read the fucking instructions.

oh yeah...a forum full of guys...never mind then. continue to bitch about everything like it's the first time ever.

seriously.

You're going to need to be more specific if you want any help with this. Saying something is "retarded" is itself fucking retarded. So a little help here; what, exactly, is retarded about bugs 8 and 11?

I don't.

Circular paradigm.

They are the same thing.? ?

I'll agree that those bugs are doubling up, since the "go hatch" problem is caused by the textblocks bug, but I wouldn't call that circular.

I like that bug 11 can be reported as depending on bug 8, so when 8 is solved you can check the dependency tree and see what others are solved... but in this case it's unnecessary and purely doubling up.? Unless after textblocks are implemented it still doesn't work.

BTW, DC, you seem more hostile than usual.? That time of the month, or are all the pubs shut?

Edit:
PS. I just found a bug on bugzilla :)  Try checking a dependency graph.  We could add Bugzilla to the product list, but that's probably overkill.
PPS. Is there a useful difference between severity and priority?
If we can hit that bulls-eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards.? Check-mate!

No, it's certainly not circular. Just because text blocks are implemented doesn't mean everything will start working. If certain text block commands aren't implemented, bug 8 might get closed but bug 11 might remain opened until the issue with it is resolved. The dependencies help guide is towards bugs which are affected by other bugs.

This is precisely why I entered it as depending on 8. Where we draw the line with what constitutes a unique bug (and not simply a duplicate) is something else that needs hashing out. Personally, I take the attitude that we should enter an individual bug for each small thing. Vitoc (or any other coders) can close them out as they're tested and resolved.

QuotePS. I just found a bug on bugzilla :)  Try checking a dependency graph.  We could add Bugzilla to the product list, but that's probably overkill.

What's the bug? If you were expecting a graphic or something, that's not what it does IIRC. Where there are multiple levels of dependency, it'll indent leaf bugs more than bugs they depend on.

QuotePPS. Is there a useful difference between severity and priority?

Severity should never change. Priority can change over time as bugs are shuffled around (and as the number of bugs grows I expect weekly or monthly bug discussions will take place and priorities will be changed around (and bugs reassigned) as needed).

Well I'm pretty sure there IS supposed to be a graphic.? The HTML has an img tag pointing to http://www.research.att.com/~north/cgi-bin/webdot.cgi/http://www.vitoc.com/data/webdot/kvXOxAnX3p.dot.map, which doesn't seem to work.

Strange.. I've no idea then.

For what it's worth, I think a dedicated bug tracking system would be a LOT better than forums.

We like bug tracking too but bugzilla is really horrible for the average user... When we did have it running hardly anyone filed bugs in it from the general player base..
