Out of all our many players (cough, I mean testers) and dupes we have 3 bards, 2 gypsies and 1 Warlock.  Yay for class balance!
If we can hit that bulls-eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards.? Check-mate!

Not to defend Metro, because I believe they are deserving of most the insults thrown their way, but maybe part of that could be attributed to the fact a lot of spell effects haven't been implemented yet in GMUD?  I dont know.  I do agree though that class balance is all out of whack in MMUD and hopefully it's something we can solve.

Their races are also.  Gaunt one for instance has high intel and agility, but are not worth anything as you get to higher levels.  i think i tested int on a dwarf and at level 50ish.  I think I gained like 6-9% crits going from base to max on intel.  Of course we all know that all that agility is wasted since there is a QnD crit cap.
That why I wrote a small tutorial for mud that basically states there is 4 races, dwarf/kang/horc/hog.  Why play anything else?

Nod.

IMO when they bumped hogs up to 150 max str I think it was a step in the right direction.? For instance, instead of every paladin being the run of the mill dwarf, they could forego decent healing & mana regen and sacrifice swings per round through the first 50+ levels in order to do more damage, have more HPs, and carry more in later levels.? It is truly a choice a would-be paladin has to make, and they both have their obvious benefits.? Some of the other classes seem to have just one race that is dominant throughout the majority of the level curve.? One way we can improve race balance is making secondary stats more important.? Let's make picklocks, traps, thievery (not sure how), perception, etc. more integral.? Yeah, there's a few places where traps and picklocks are very helpful, but there need to be even more places;? enough to make someone say "ya know, maybe picklocking is too important to pass up."

I think we definitely need to consider not having a hard cap on stats.? If someone wants to spend 10+ cps just to raise one of their stats 1 point, they should have that option.? Now people can specialize their race/class so not every race/class ends up having the exact same stats.? Basically no more of this "when you reach lvl 75 you've beaten the game" business.

I think that this would really help make characters so cookie cutter which is what everyone seems to really hate about mmud. Another idea that might work would be to cap the amount of cps that a player can gain total from levels. So at like level 45 you no longer gain cps and your characters could grow in other ways. This would add an angle to character building where you have to think about whats more important to you. Make it so that it doesnt max at this number you just have to spend a ton and at the same time the alot extra that you have to spend will mean so much more you can never get back.
