lol looks like its down again too :(

Yeah, it's down, because there's no friggin' port forwarding built into the web interface for OpenWRT.? I decided to try to get it working last night around 7pm or so.?

The first step said to use the web interface to set the WAN type to PPPOE.? Well, that sounds nice and all and I would have done that.... IF THAT OPTION HAD BEEN IN THE WAN SECTION.? I'm using version RC6 which is the latest, and after a good hour of searching the horribly scattered documentation on OpenWRT for why PPPOE wasn't in my drop down list I found out that they had decided to remove it between RC5 and RC6.? Great... so I do another hour of searching for how to add the PPPOE package to the firmware, but of course, you need a connection to the internet to retrieve other packages (like the ppp-pppoe package I needed) but you can't get a connection to the internet without the pppoe connection working.? Funny how that works, eh?? So I finally find a version of RC6 that has pppoe built into it (this wasn't mentioned anywhere in the documentation, seriously), it just happened to be sitting in a folder called pppoe on their server.? So I get all the router reflashed with the new firmware and finally get my pppoe connection set up... over 2 hours later.? The first item had a friendly note under it saying "this should only take a few minutes." >:(

On to step 2... The howto says to use fwbuilder (firewall builder, another lovely open source program, HAH) to set up my iptables.? The guy who wrote it even has step by step instructions, and while that was nice of him, fwbuilder thought it would be nice to completely revamp their interface thus rendering his howto utterly useless.? So now I get to learn all about firewalls; a sea of dmzs, interfaces, vlans, ppp0s, subnets, ips, spoofing, and other lengthy topics that I really shouldn't have to learn just to set up 5 sticky IPs that should have been static from the beginning.  So right now the router is almost to the point my last router was at... I can connect to the internet from all the boxes on my LAN, but there's no easy way to set up port forwarding to the GMUDServer;  the fun continues tonight.

I promise you don't have to study for those tests.

Are you kidding, I had to study my ass off to pass one the first time.  Thank god for "A Guide to Good Nutrition" and "March's Advanced Organic Chemistry: Reactions, Mechanisms and Structure".
